Welcome to The Quotes Toolbox! I’m Brian, and I’m thrilled to share a bit about myself and my site with you.
I’m a retired high school teacher, based in Indianapolis, IN (United States), with a deep passion for Personal Growth and Development. As a former educator, I was a coach and administrator, in addition to being a teacher, I also have a passion for sharing the ideas I collect with others.
Whether it’s sports coaching, personal development, or how to run a business, I’m constantly exploring, learning, and sharing in these areas.
My journey in collecting mindset quotes began in the 1970s. I was a junior high athlete (basketball and cross country). My Dad bought me a poster that I put in my bedroom about perseverance.
The quote was “The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep on running.” I soon addes other quotes that I added to my collection of quotes on my wall. I was hooked on powering my mindset with positive quotes. A couple of my favorites were and are:
- “Talent is God given, be humble; fame is man-given, be thankful; conceit is self-given, be careful.” John Wooden
- “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.” Another quote from Coach Wooden
When I started coaching basketball during my freshman year in college, I continued to collect mindset quotes and share them with the players I coached. It evolved into a quote of the day that I shared with the math students I taught after graduating from college and with the players on the basketball teams that I coached. The collection of mindset quotes grew into the thousands.
When I started my first informational site in 2007 for basketball coaches (The Coaching Toolbox), I shared a quote of the day for coaches, along with 4 articles on coaching basketball, to my daily email subscribers.
I realized that basketball coaches and their teams were not the only people who could benefit from a quote of the day. That’s when the idea to post my collections online was born with the development of The Quotes Toolbox.
As my network of websites for sports coaches grew to nine different sports, every email subscriber received content for their sport and a quote of the day.
I have the help of an incredible team that helps me curate, organize, and distribute our content. For the sake of their privacy, I am going to let them remain anonymous.
When I’m not working on my network of websites, you can find me spending time with my wife, our family, and staying in touch with students and athletes I worked with during my time in education. I find joy and inspiration in traveling with my wife. We also love to spend our summers and weekends at our lake home.
