Anthony Jay Robbins, also known as Tony Robbins, is a well-known American motivational speaker, self-help author, life coach, and entrepreneur who was born on February 29, 1960, in Los Angeles, California.
When he was younger, he realized he had a gift for public speaking and started reading the writings of motivational authors like Dale Carnegie and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Robbins chose not to attend college and instead got a position managing seminars for Jim Rohn, a motivational speaker.
Early in the 1980s, Robbins started hosting his own seminars, which were known as secular revival meetings.
He started teaching neuro-linguistic programming (NPL) and Ericksonian Hypnosis after getting trained from the co-founder of NPL. In 1983, he learned firewalking from Tolly Burkan, father of the global firewalking movement, and started integrating it into his seminars.
Author of two New York Times bestsellers, Unlimited Power (1987) and Awaken the Giant Within (2002), Tony Robbins is well-known for his extravagant seminars (Unleash the Power Within) and business events (Business Mastery) (1993).
In 1997, he launched his “Leadership Academy” seminar because he was already well-known from his books and TV infomercials. Due to the popularity of these seminars, he was invited to speak in seminars sponsored by “Learning Annex.”
